MANAMA: A new five-year strategy to keep Alba ahead of global competition was approved by its board yesterday.The meeting, at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain Hotel and Spa was head by chairman Dr Esam Fakhro.
He said afterwards that the board had studied the new five-year strategic plan proposed by the executive management team and, after making some observations, gave it the go-ahead.
Dr Fakhro said the strategic plan was aimed at building on Alba's reputation as one of the largest modern aluminium smelters in the world and on its outstanding achievements in production, safety and marketing.
"The board also discussed proposals for regional expansion, which include strategic plans proposed to build on Alba's reputation among the world's aluminium smelters," he said. "Other issues were also discussed regarding the company's plans for human resource development and the steps being taken to merge operations and marketing through the merger of Alba and Alma."
