Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) and its union have reached an agreement on bonuses, ending a dispute that saw more than 700 employees picket the company's head office last month.
The agreement provides for payments covering last year and a minimum level this year and also a future linkage with the price of aluminium.
The union—The Alba Employees Union—has been flexing its muscles ever since a change in the Persian Gulf country's tough labour laws last year. It even staged a token one-hour strike last October in what was the first labour unrest in Bahrain for decades.
