According to a report released by Rio Tinto, the firm’s bauxite production totaled around 13.8 million tons in the first quarter, rising by approximately 8% compared to the same period a year ago, while dropping by 9% from the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, Rio Tinto produced a total of around 800,000 tons of aluminum, sliding by 2% year on year, while keeping flat compared to last quarter.
Besides, the capital expenditure in 2020 was expected to be reduced to US$5-6 billion from the previous US$7 billion due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus epidemic and strong US dollars.
