Rio Tinto's aluminum business has declared a force majeure on supply of aluminum from Boyne Smelters due to the Queensland floods.
Rio Tinto Alcan, the largest shareholder in Boyne Smelters, says floods have cut road and rail access between the smelter near Gladstone and Brisbane.
Meanwhile Brisbane's port is closed, halting deliveries to some domestic and international customers.
The company says its considering alternative delivery routes including shipping the aluminum directly from the Gladstone port.
