ATLANTA (AP) — Alcan Cable, a Rio Tinto PLC division that makes aluminum cable and other equipment, plans to set up a new legal entity for its operations in Mexico, the company said Monday.
Alcan said the move will make expanding and doing business in the local currency easier.
Alcan has been struggling with a prolonged slump in demand. The company announced in August that it would shutter operations in Roseburg, Ore., cutting 77 jobs.
