BHP Billiton Ltd (ASX:BHP) is reportedly in talks with Russia’s Norilsk Nickel, about developing the Honeymoon Well and a joint venture on BHP’s Albion Downs nickel mine.
The world’s largest nickel miner has reportedly told The Australian Financial Review that the company is again trying to work with BHP.
The alleged new discussions follow a failed joint venture arrangement between both the global miners in 2006.
Norilsk Nickel says the Honeymoon Well is the richest nickel deposit in Australia and the company is currently undertaking geological surveys.
BHP Billiton posted a net profit of $15.26 billion in the 2010 financial year.
