Brazil Primary aluminum production grows by 4.6% in August

The Brazilian Aluminum Association- ABAL announced the of August/07 for primary aluminum production. According to the Association, 142.3 thousand ton were produced in the month, a volume 4.6% above the production of August 2006. The accrued production from January to August achieved 1,098.5 thousand ton, which are equivalent to a 3.1% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, when the production amounted to 1,065.1 thousand ton.

The results support ABAL´s latest forecast, which expected a 3.5% production increase in 2007, in a total amount of 1,661 thousand ton of primary aluminum.
