180,000 m? – that?s the hall space being taken up by BAU 2013. It?s the equivalent of 25 football fields, dedicated to building materials, technologies and systems. The space at BAU is divided up into categories according to product or material type, but for BAU 2013 this established system of organization is being overlaid with another orientation system, based on themes.
In future the exhibitors at BAU will not only be allocated to certain halls according type of product or materials, they will also be found under a specific theme heading. Manufacturers of aluminum and ceramic systems, for example, also come under the theme of "facades", suppliers of chemical building products are also a part of the theme of "floor coverings", and "energy-generation systems" include, for example, components of aluminum and glass.
BAU?s Exhibition Director Mirko Arend sees this new theme-based orientation as a logical addition to the present system: "If I think of architects, for example, then this group is often in search of facade solutions in general, without focusing on a specific product or material. With floor coverings it?s the same situation. So this new aid to orientation makes perfect sense. It helps our exhibitors by reflecting the particular theme they are involved in, and it helps our visitors maintain the overview in the very extensive range on display at the fair."
Visitors to BAU can orientate themselves according to the symbols: For example, the facade symbol indicates where to find products that are mainly used on facades. The graphic symbols used in this new system are set out on the BAU website for you to take a look at.
