World Expo 2010 made Shanghai a unique city to visit in the year, while right alongside this global gathering of dreams, Aluminium, was brought to life at Shanghai New International Expo Centre between 9th June - 11th June 2010. The Asia’s No.1 aluminium industry gathering - ALUMINIUM CHINA for the sixth time opened its gates to 9,059 qualified trade visitors and over 4,000 exhibiting staff from 80 countries and regions, a record breaking result that surprised many of the exhibitors who attended the show. ALUMINIUM CHINA 2010 gathered 320 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions and 9,059 trade visitors, including 237 VIPs and 30 delegations from 30 provinces in China and 80 countries around the world. The visitor number compared to last year is increased by 3.1%, a peak one among all six editions since 2005. 46.35% of total visitors were from the aluminium applications industries like building and construction, transportation, electronics and machinery manufacturing, while nearly 63% of visitors have purchasing recommendation and decision making authorities. The performance of the show in Shanghai generated superb feedback from participants with 3/4 of the international hall sold for ALUMINIUM CHINA 2011 by the end of the 3rd day.
At the event, Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Corporation Ltd., Conglin Group, Zhejiang Gko Aluminum Co., Ltd. and other famous domestic aluminum raw material and processed material manufacturers, together with Dubai Aluminum, UAE Aluminum, Furukawa-Sky Aluminum Corp and other international aluminum industry giants fully demonstrated the latest developments of the international aluminum industry. Wagstaff, Siemens VAI Manufacturing Co. Ltd., SMS group and other international aluminum processing technology and equipment suppliers, together with relevant domestic suppliers, such as Metalworking Machinery, Shanghai Jieru Heavy Industry, etc., brought the most sophisticated products for visitors from home and abroad. Another feature of the event is that Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO) changed its conventional group participation mode, by entrusting China Nonferrous Metals Processing Technology Co., Ltd., the branch of CHALCO’s nonferrous metals processing engineering, to play the leading role and focus on promoting the engineering design planning and equipment R&D strength.
This event occupied halls of W4 and W5 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre covering a total exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, among which the primary aluminum, recycled and aluminum auto parts exhibition pavilions are extremely prominent. These three new pavilions are launched in the context of Reed Exhibitions’ close cooperation with industrial associations and media, and closely following the industrial trend, especially the application trend in down-stream industrial chains. The products and technologies related to electrolytic aluminum production, recovery and recycling, auto aluminum parts exhibited in the three pavilions are currently in the focus of the industry. In addition to interactions among exhibitors, concurrent conference activities were held, further improving the ROI for exhibitors and visitors. The three-day special forum discussed all relevant issues of the whole industry chain, ranging from primary aluminum, aluminum processing, to application, and recycling, which further enhanced the event’s role in providing solutions for enterprises.
As a major highlight of event this year, the first SAE Asia Congress, a copy of SAE World Congress, jointly organised by SAE International and Reed Exhibitions, brought together international auto industry elites the share their exclusive views on the latest sophisticated EV technologies with automotive engineers, designers, buyers and corporate executives and other professionals. Apart from the convention, the event points out the right direction for the development and technological innovations of the industry, for the first time, by means of reversed investigation of upstream product supply from end application.
The associated 2010 China Aluminium Fabrication Forum, organized by the China Non Ferrous Metal Industry Association along with China’s leading aluminium information and consultancy provider Antaike, as well as the ALUMINIUM CHINA 2010 Onsite Seminar were moderated by experts and senior executives from IAA, AA, JAA, etc., which provided the attendees with insights on the latest trend of global aluminium market including topics like aluminium futures, latest developments in aluminium rolling products and technologies are all were well received and attended.
During the opening ceremony on the first day of the event, Mr. Jia Mingxing, Vice President of China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association, said: “Aluminum China serves a barometer for aluminum industry, reflecting the ups and downs of China’s aluminum industry. As indicated by the event theme ‘Bringing Aluminum to Life’, China’s aluminum industry maintains strong development momentum, and plays an increasingly important role in international aluminum industry.”
According to the interview with Mr. Preecha CHEN Han Wen, President of the organiser - Reed Exhibitions Greater China, that the company is now planning to expand its exhibit range to include copper, magnesium and composite materials based on its well-established aluminum show, and create a umbrella brand called Industrial Materials China, thus to build a premier gathering in China and in Asia at large.
Aluminum China 2011 will be held from July 13th to 15th next year at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
