Smelted in the high-temperature electric arc furnace, with corundum as starting material, white corundum's main phase is a-Al₂^O_3, the hardness is a little higher than corundum, it has the property of acid and alkali resistance, good abrasion resistance, anti-erosion and volume stability at high temperature. It is a kind of important raw materials used to manufacture abrasives and advanced refractory.

Brown fused alumina is manufactured in electric arc furnace using bauxite as raw material. With high hardness and toughness, it is an important raw material of abrasive and refractory industries. It can be used for belt, ceramic, coated, high-grade, and organic abrasives. The product can be used as abrasive and refractory material. The abrasive tools made by brown fused alumina are suitable for grinding carbon steel, normal alloy steel, malleable cast iron and hard bronze, etc. brown fused alumina can also be used for making fine quality refractory.

high alumina corundum is one of the main products of our company, and got second prize of scientific and technological progress of 1996 that State Science and Technology Commission issues. It regards high quality bauxite as main raw materials, from breaking and sieving, smelt in the electric arc furnace more than 2000 degree Celsius. The main composition of Al2O3 is greater than 98%, Ti2O is smaller than 0.03. After calcinations and acid treatment to sub-white corundum, its residual carbon content and impurity are reduced, so that products do not chalk and burst in application. According to the residual carbon content, they are divided into three varieties. Sub-white features hardness of white corundum, the toughness of brown corundum,it is mainly used in the manufacture of abrasives, abrasive and high-quality refractory instead of white corundum and dense corundum. its high quality and reliable performance made it to be the raw material of ideal advanced refractory at present.
